CENTRAL MONITORING STATION
The nerve centre of operations for the Peerless Group of Companies is our 24 hour Central Monitoring Station. It is pretty hard for the average person to compare one alarm monitoring company to another but there are a few important considerations in helping consumers making decisions.
All things being equal you will get better service from a company with a lower customer to operator ratio. Many of the large monitoring companies have a 10,000 customer to 1 operator ratio. Peerless has a 2,000 to 1 ratio and drops to a 1000 to 1 ratio during wide spread power outages. Most alarm monitoring companies that have been around for a while have realized the benefit and value of computers and have added automation software and computers to aid in monitoring and dispatch efficiency. U.L.C certification of monitoring companies and facilities assures consumers that the certified monitoring company is operationally adequate to perform the job.
U.L.C. Certification
We are certified by the Underwriters Laboratories of Canada (ULC) for Full Service Fire, Full Service Burglary and Central Monitoring Station. This certification assures our customers that Peerless meets or exceeds the stringent requirements and standards as set out by ULC and, is audited on an on going basis by ULC for continuing conformance.
Many of the requirements for certification through ULC deal with equipment used for alarm receiving and back-up power. We have two or more of everything required including a back-up facility. When there is a power outage in our area we can run our facility on stand by batteries and if required start up one of our two back-up generators.
Alarm Monitoring
Monitoring alarms is one of the primary functions of our Central Monitoring Station which was specifically built for dispatching purposes. We can accommodate all standard communication technologies as well as formats and use the reliable automation software SIMS.
Digital Dialers
Most alarm systems transmit over standard phone lines using digital dialers. It is the most cost effective alarm transmission technology and does not require a separate phone line or internet connection. If a burglar cuts the phone line a built in telephone line monitor will trip the alarm and cause a local audible alert.
Cellular / GSM Transmitters
More reliability is achieved by having a cellular / GSM transmitter for back-up communications in case the digital dialers fails to reach the monitoring station. Cellular / GSM transmitters can also be primary communications in areas without phone lines.
Internet
The internet is a porthole to providing connection with properties. Like cellular / GSM communications, it offers greater reliability than digital dialers. If the internet connection to the alarm system fails, the central monitoring station is alerted.
DVAC Network
If you want Level 3 line security and a constant connection to our Central Monitoring Station, you'll need to be connected to our high security DVAC alarm monitoring network. Through this network we check the status of your alarm system every 5 seconds and are immediately alerted if your system gets disconnected.
Video Verification
The Peerless central monitoring station has full capabilities for video verification of alarm signals for customers that have camera systems or capture cards at their premises. With video verification, central station operators can actually visually check for themselves that the alarm is or is not a real emergency and then be better informed to take appropriate action.
Two Way Audio
Most of our alarm systems and medical alarm systems will accommodate two way audio. When the alarm system is activated it will contact our Central Monitoring Station. Once the information about the alarm has been transmitted to the monitoring station, the alarmed premises and monitoring station operator are linked by hands free communication.
24 Service / Help
Many alarm companies either install alarms or monitor alarms. Not many alarm companies monitor and install alarms but Peerless installs, monitors and responds. Our customers continuously comment how pleased they are in dealing with us when in need of service or help. They can get all questions and / or concerns regarding their security answered by one phone call 24 / 7.
Working Alone Life Line
Requirements of the safety of people working alone are changing and employers are obligated to provide due diligence. Employees never have to work alone. They can be connected to our Central Monitoring Station and if they fail to check in or answer a call, we send out our response team and / or the police.
Fire Department Dispatching
Peerless not only monitors alarms but is also a secondary PSAP (Public Safety Answering Point). Our state of the art dispatching and recording systems assure that when you call 911 for a call requiring the Fire Department, your call is dealt with in a fast and professional manner.
