Security Guards

Peerless Security takes great pride in offering fully trained and uniformed security guards. We are able to accommodate many duties such as asset protection, evidence preservation, access control and crowd control. Since day one Peerless has employed retired police officers who bring many years of knowledge with them. In 2010 Peerless was selected by the I.S.U. (Integrated Security Unit) O.P.P. (Ontario Provincial Police) to provide direct security coverage for numerous locations for the 2010 Canada G8 Summit.

Patrol Service
Some areas don't require a posted guard but do require some sort of a guard presence. This is accomplished by security patrols of the property and / or building(s) either by vehicle, by foot or by a combination of vehicle and foot patrol(s). This approach is common for car dealerships, schools and businesses.

Posted Site
For many years security guards have been the first defense in controlling unauthorized entry to buildings or property. Some insurance companies demand that certain facilities must have posted guards in order to obtain insurance coverage. This is becoming more common in many areas of Ontario. Most posted sites require a combination of access control and patrol.

Alarm Response
Police response to alarm systems has been changing throughout Canada. Most municipalities have a false alarm policy in place where fines can be imposed and in some areas the police will not respond to an alarm unless it has been verified that a crime is in progress or that a crime has been committed. All alarms require a key holder(s) to respond to and provide access for the fire department, police department or service repair people. Often enough there are no key holders available when alarm systems are set off. Our alarm response teams are made up of retired police officers equipped with 4 wheel drive vehicles , response equipment and training.

Virtual Patrols
One of the most cost effective long term solutions to the costs of security guard service is virtual guard tours. This is accomplished by providing a video system on site with remote access capabilities where our Central Station operators / guards do a virtual inspection(s) (patrols) of the property and / or building.

Cottage Checks
One of the driving influences behind cottage checks is from the insurance industry. Many underwriters require that unoccupied premises (cottages) be checked every 72 hours, once per week or once every two weeks. Peerless can perform exterior and interior inspections of your cottage in compliance with the requirements of your insurance company.

Fire Watch
The Ontario Fire Code demands that fire watch be performed in buildings, requiring fire alarm systems, where the fire alarm system is wholly or in part not operating correctly. Our guards are trained in fire watch detail and in proper use of fire extinguishers. Rapid dispatching of fire departments is assured by the constant communication link between our guards and Central Station facility.

Communications
Our guards are well equipped with communications equipment in both stationary and mobile capacities. Their consistent link to our 24 hour ULC certified Central Monitoring Station offers excellent safety and reliability factors.

Government Requirements
Security guards must be licensed under a provincial government and be employed by a licensed security guard agency such as Peerless Security. This requirement ensures consumers that the guards are licensed, trained, uniformed and insured. People or companies being in the business of providing security guards and who are not licensed are subject to legal actions which can include up to a $50,000.00 fine.
