Our fire protection and life safety division, Muskoka Fire Protection, has been serving Central and Northern Ontario for over 25 years. We staff qualified, experienced and certified technicians and technologists to meet any of our customers' life safety requirements.
Fire Alarms
Fire alarms are the first defense in detecting fires in order to preserve both life and property. The Ontario Fire Code (OFC), Ontario Building Code (OBC) and the Underwriters Laboratories of Canada (ULC) dictate when, where and how fire alarms are to be installed, serviced, inspected and verified. Please use the Mircom link provided on this page to view our line of fire alarm and life safety products.

Sprinkler Systems
Sprinkler systems can drastically reduce loss of property and life in fires. When activated, properly installed and maintained, systems will sound a local alarm(s) as well as extinguish fires. Many sprinkler systems also combine fire alarm systems for audibility, manual activation, enhanced detection and monitoring.
Fire Extinguishers
Many people own fire extinguishers but understand very little about their requirements, effectiveness and proper use. They are rated by the type of combustible material they are to be used on and their effectiveness on extinguishing fires. We sell, service and inspect the complete Amerex line of fire extinguishers. Please use the Amerex link provided on this page to view our line of fire extinguishers and extinguishing systems.

Emergency Lighting
When the power goes out it's the emergency and exit lighting that provides illumination for safe egress. In most buildings the lighting is only required by code to last for 30 minutes but may last longer if larger batteries have been installed.
Hood Systems (Fire Suppression Systems)
Facilities that have commercial cooking appliances usually require an exhaust hood, with an automatic fire suppression system, above the appliances. Kitchen hood fire suppression systems are designed to extinguish the cooking fires and shut of the gas and / or electricity to the appliances.
Inspections
The Ontario Fire Code requires that inspections of life safety systems and devices be carried out on prescribed intervals. Fire alarm systems, sprinkler systems, fire extinguishers, emergency lighting and kitchen hood fire suppression systems all require mandatory inspections and / or testing.
Verifications
Both fire alarm systems and sprinkler systems must be verified upon completion of installation. The verifications must be done by a different company than the installation company and the verifying company's technician(s) must be certified through the CFAA.
Fire Safety Plans
It is very common these days for fire departments to request fire safety plans for buildings within their jurisdiction. These plans list many things such as building resources, fire fighting equipment, exits, fire department access, fire drills and more. They provide instruction for building occupants and a good overview of facility life safety for the fire departments and / or authority having jurisdiction (AHJ).
Engineering
Fire protection engineering is a challenge to some but not to us. Over 25 years of working with engineers, building officials and fire department officials have given us the experience needed to assist our customers.
Consulting
Our years of experience in all areas of life safety and security can save you a great deal of time, effort and money. We are pleased to be able to educate our clients to enable them to make sound decisions regarding their life safety and security.
